    Senufo masks combine the features of animals and human in one expressive design.
    They are created by artists who live isolated from the village.
    These artists have a high status in the community because their masks and figures are thought to have the power to enable communication between the living and the dead.
    Senufo masks are used by the Poro community, a male organisation, which teaches young men about the traditions and the responsibilities needed for their coming of age.
    These particular masks are made out of royal ebony wood.
