This elegant mask will make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection of African, West African, or Ethnographic art. We believe this double headed mask is from the Igbo, located in Southeastern Nigeria. It is approximately 129 1/2" (49.53 cm) high. Carved from a a rather lightweight wood, it has very prominent raised scarification on the chins with lines running down the foreheads and across the cheeks, stylized hair, and most of the original white kaolin paint on face. It is an older mask with a nice age patina and very little paint loss. It shows no sign of active or past insect infestation. Please see condition report above and photos to verify condition.
